Chrysophase
is the most worthy variety of Chalcedony due to its rarity and
attractive color. The quartz of Chrysophase has apple green color.
Other popular names of these quartzes are Cat's Eye and Australian
Jade. In ancient Egypt, beads made out of these quartzes were second
most popular beads just after Lapis Lazuli. The name of this mineral
quartz is also mentioned in the bible as being one of the twelve gem
stones which had been set in the Jerusalem's city wall.
It is believed that these gemstones are extremely good for
enhancing the internal grace and inner equilibrium. The colors of
these gem stones vary from Apple Green to Yellowish Green and this
is due to availability of nickel oxide and hydraulic silicate. These
green gem stones are semi-opaque. At present these mineral gem
stones are mined in Melbourne (Australia), Russia, Brazil, U.S.A.,
South Africa, Madagascar, and South Africa.
