Gemstones: Stunning Reds & Pinks For Stone Studded Jewelry Lovers

April 13, 2010-Continuing from the previous article, Get Ready With Red Gemstone Jewelry, we take it a step forward with another three stones that look absolutely stunning in red. They occur in a variety of pinks and reds, apart from the other colors. Gemstone studded jewelry with these 'red' stones is a pleasure to look at and adorn. Have a look at zircon, spinal/spinel and tourmaline, the semi precious stones par excellence.

Zircon

Zircon is a colorless stone in its pure form. With impurities it transforms into various mesmerizing colors like deep sea green, wine red, earth brown, aquamarine, golden yellow, etc. With its fine brilliance and luster it resembles to a diamond. Chiseled cuts in a zircon bring out its shine to its full ability. The only issue with this stone is that it tends to lose color after some time. The red zircon studded in gold and back silver is amazing. More than one varieties of zircon can also be used for a single jewelry set. Zircon pendants, necklaces, chokers and ear rings are the most frequently pieces of red zircon jewelry. Rather than regular wear, it is more of a party wear and occasion gemstone. It also loses its fire and brilliance with a lot of exposure to sunlight. So special care is required to preserve its gleam.

Spinal/Spinel

Just like zircon and many other stones, a pure spinal is again a white colored stone that is rendered color only by impurities. It also looks like zircon and diamonds. From among the stunning and colorful varieties of the gemstone, color red happens to be one the most precious of all. A red spinal looks like a deep red ruby. However spinal is a cheaper gemstone than ruby and is therefore more affordable. Red spinal jewelry is found in not just deep red but also a few other shades revolving around red. Multiple layer necklaces, cluster spinal rings and even chunk spinal rings, all of these are beautiful addition to any jewelry box.

Tourmaline

Tourmaline, a borosilicate mineral of complex compositions, is an abundantly available gemstone. It occurs in a huge array of colors. The range includes multiple shades of green , blue and pink. There are certain precautions that need to be exercised with the tourmaline stone so as to keep it clean and shining, as it has a tendency of attracting dust and dirt. Tourmaline jewelry is very beautiful as it is available in unique and cool colors like water melon pink, water blue-green, a mix of watermelon pink and green, wine red-brown, deep pink and many more. Necklaces, forehead jewelry, bangles, bracelets, anklets, rings earrings or any other jewelry, tourmaline makes a very nice accessory for all kinds of dresses.
